DJI Mavic 3 Drone

DJI Mavic 3 - Review

Mavic 3 is DJI’s latest flagship drone, an official successor to the popular Mavic 2 [Zoom/Pro]. The new addition to the DJI flagship drone category is the best drone on the market for photographers and content creators.

Mavic 3 was off to a shaky start as it received numerous reviews regarding missing features that had to be present considering the advancements and price range. However, with time, DJI has released several software updates to the drone. Read further to learn more about the latest DJI Mavic 3.

PERFORMANCE

Two primary features help to determine the performance of a drone: the camera quality and how the drone flies. If any drone lags in any of these two features, it is safe to say it has poor performance. The DJI Mavic 3 has both drone features nailed down with the two models for this beautiful sleek drone: the Standard and the Cine version. The Cine version is the most advanced out of the two versions. It comes with built-in storage that ranges from 8 gigabytes SSD to 1 terabyte SSD and a ProRes 422 HQ video recording feature which is fantastic for those that require ample storage space.

CAMERA

The DJI Mavic 3 drone has two unique camera sets: a 4/3 CMOS Hasselblad sensor with a 20MP resolution and a secondary ½-inch CMOS (12MP) sensor for the digital zoom lens. The primary camera has a 4-degree field view and a range of apertures that the user can set to unleash their creativity. While the previous Mavic 2 Pro can shoot video at a resolution of up to 4K/30, Mavic 3’s camera resolution is capable of up to 5.1K/50. The secondary camera’s 28x digital zoom capacity is the cherry on top since you can capture many details from great distances.

SPEED AND FLIGHT

Assessing a drone’s flight relies on its steadiness, smooth flight time, and resistance to weather conditions—the Mavic 3 passes in all these aspects. The drone has extended propellers that are lengthier than the Mavic 2 Pro. Similar to how the wings of an Eagle make the bird remain steady at higher levels. These larger propellers make the Mavic 3 drone more controllable in strong windy conditions. With smoother flight and steadiness in the air, the drone can go at 42 mph max speed in Sports Mood. The drone’s standard maximum speed rate is even higher than the previous models. It can stay in the air for up to 45 minutes. That’s a fantastic speed and time for those who want to capture great shots and create exciting flight footage.

DESIGN

A slimmer drone is the trademark of every DJI drone, and Mavic 3 is no exception. The DJI Mavic 3 is more extensive but lighter compared to its predecessor. The relatively small drone can easily fit into a camera bag. In addition, the new propeller diameter and weight reductions offer longer flight times. Similar to DJI Mini 3 Pro and unlike the previous incarnations of DJI Mavic, the gimbal has an additional protector. The elegant new approach to the design with the protection gives a fresh look to this drone.

The SOFTWARE APPLICATION

The Mavic 3 drone is compatible with the DJI Fly App. The new app is much better in terms of user experience. Beginners won’t feel lost using the app for the first time. However, professionals may not be happy about it since the options for advanced flight and recording are not on the main menu.

PRICE

Everything about Mavic 3 seems perfect but is it worth the price tag? It’s a no-brainer that the new DJI Mavic drone is an expensive piece of equipment. The Standard Mavic 3 is around £1,760, which rises to £4,000 for Mavic 3 Cine. However, the price seems reasonable considering the rising demand for drones and their capabilities.

CONCLUSION

DJI Mavic has been a trendsetter, and the DJI Mavic 3 will also set the trend for more drones. With powerful cameras and flight stability, this one is the most incredible drone on the market.
